Overview

FOG (フォグ), also known as dreamFOG (ドリームフォグ), is a Yume Nikki fangame being made by riki-xenon with RPG Maker 2003 and RPG Maker MV. The current versions are v0.0.40R (RPG Maker 2003 version for Windows) and v0.0.40M (RPG Maker MV version for browsers), released on April 15, 2016.

Gameplay

From the Nexus, formed as an endless diagonal staircase, the dreamer can explore 12 different dream worlds. Within the dream world, they can collect various effects and perks, which can be equipped to raise certain stats which may affect their dreams.

FOG has included various puzzles throughout the dream world since the first release. Those puzzles are generally based on various visual and audio cues; solving them may reveal Effects and Perks.

Plot

The game takes place on November 1998, and it follows the lucid dreaming exploits of Leon and Tegan. They may find ghosts of each other and their other friend Emory, as well as recurring antagonists such as Fedoras and Shadow Creatures. Although FOG has no dialogue, Leon and Tegan may find messages visually encoded as numbers, colors, or shapes or auditorily encoded as Morse code.

Future versions are planned to include Emory as a playable character, who would share the same dream world as Leon and Tegan. Leon and Tegan would share the same 12-door staircase Nexus, but Emory's Nexus would be a chamber of 32 doors.

Flashlight		"Carry a flashlight." Leon can illuminate certain areas and ward off Shadow Creatures by turning it on with the Shift key. However, it has limited battery power, which can be recharged when it is turned off.

Tegan

Tegan's Traverse

On March 17, 2016, riki-xenon released a condensed mini-game made with RPG Maker MV, "Tegan's Traverse," which allows the player to walk through the 12 main worlds with any of the three planned Dreamers: Tegan, Leon, and Emory.
