Game Pages
What games are allowed here?
- Games inspired by Yume Nikki that are not fangames are listed on the "Games Inspired By Yume Nikki" page.
- Fan-made Yume Nikki spin-off games are allowed here.
- Games with overly NSFW content, such as pornography or pictures of real-life gore, or purposefully offensive content are not allowed.
- Games that may be perceived as offensive are still allowed if it can be reasonably assumed that it was not intended to come off as such.
Policy on in-development games
(Although previously we did not allow games without a release on the wiki, that rule has since been changed, but there are now strict guidelines to follow when creating a page for in-development games.)
- For games that are in development that have yet to see a first release to be considered eligible for page creation, there should be images such as screenshots, sprites representing the protagonist(s) and their effects, as well as sufficient information to serve as evidence of the games' development.
- If and when these pages are created, they should have their release dates in the Date parameter of their respective gameboxes set as TBA, and pages associated with these games should have {{NotReleased}} on top. This will include these pages to the "Work in Progress Fangames" category.
- Games that were canceled before their first release should have their release dates in the Date parameter set as Abandoned, and pages associated with these games should have {{NotReleased2}} on top. This will include these pages to the "Abandoned/Unreleased Fangames" category.
- In either case, no other categories should be added to these pages. This is to isolate these pages to their respective categories based on status.
Policy on Ex-Fangames
- If a developer announces their game is no longer a fangame, their game page should have the {{ExFangame}} template on top, which includes it in the "Ex-Fangames" category, and any future releases of this game should NOT be posted to this wiki.
- If a developer announces their game is no longer a fangame before the game was ever released, it should be removed from the wiki. If a game was never released as a fangame and never will be released as a fangame, it should not have a page here.
Policy on Download Links
- Do not add links, or links to services, that point to content in an unauthorized manner, such as those linking to quarantined content, or work that should not be redistributed without due permission.
- Services are defined as archives or sites that host fangames without due consent.
- Self-hosting/mirroring an older version of a fangame is permissible unless otherwise stated by the developer, usually checked by looking in the readme file.
Quarantined Games
- If a developer deletes downloads to their fangame and requests for their fangame to not be reuploaded anymore, the game's main page will become quarantined.
- Sharing a download link to a quarantined game anywhere on the wiki is now a banable offense. (If it is your first time doing so you may just receive a warning.)
- The game pages should be locked so only mods and admins can edit. This is to prevent future download link wars between users and mods/admins. These pages should have {{Quarantined}} at the top and a link to the developer's request must be placed in the overview.
Character Pages
- Character pages must only be created for playable characters. If a game has a number of noteworthy non-playable characters, a character’s table may be created on the game page. (Example)
Character Images
- Official art of the character is always preferred.
- All character art must be sourced. Sources of art outside of their original source are not allowed.
- If an artist requests their picture be removed, we must respect their wishes.
Soundtrack Pages
- Soundtrack pages must only be created for games with an "original soundtrack" ("OST").
- If the developer has stated in the readme file of their game that the assets in it are not to be redistributed, do not make a soundtrack page.
- If the creator of any of the songs uploaded to the wiki request we remove them, we must respect their wishes.
