Complete guide for TRIAL, as of version 0.8.0a.

Effects Guide

As of version 0.8.0a, 22 effects can be obtained through normal means, while the other 6 can only be obtained from the Debug Room. Because of this, only 22 effects are needed to obtain the endings. Drop off effects in the nexus by pressing (D) with an effect equipped. The Debug Room can be accessed by interacting with the trash can in the real world bedroom.

Digital (デジタル)

Appearance: Suzutsuki becomes a green outline of herself.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki warps to the nexus.

Location: Found in the Grey Maze.

Practical Uses: Can be used to teleport back to the nexus.

In the nexus, enter the blue and purple door on the left. Head a few steps west, then go south and interact with the Piano. Navigate the maze to get to the cellphone, which gives the effect.

Rim (リム)

Appearance: Suzutsuki becomes the rim of a wheel.

Passive Effect: Suzutsuki's movement speed increases.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Red Chair World.

Practical Uses: Can be used to navigate the dream world much faster.

Enter the red door at the bottom of the nexus. Interact with the the rim that rolls by just south of the door.

Winged (翼人)

Appearance: Suzutsuki dresses like an angel.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki alternates between walking and floating.

Location: Found in the Cloud Area.

Practical Uses: None.

The Demon property is required.

Enter the southwest door in the nexus to get to the Church. Head up and use the Demon effect to kill the skeleton. Navigate the Bone Maze to get to something resembling an altar surrounded by hearts. Follow the path and interact with the object at the end.

Demon (悪魔)

Appearance: Suzutsuki becomes a demon.

Passive Effect: NPCs move away from Suzutsuki.

Action: (Hold A) Suzutsuki swings a scythe.

Location: Found in the Blue and Red Maze.

Practical Uses: Can be used to kill NPCS.

Enter the red door at the bottom of the nexus. Go southwest and interact with a red crystal. Go southwest to where the blue walls and red walls meet. Make your way to the NPC around this area and interact with it.

Light of Heart (心光)

Appearance: Suzutsuki holds a red orb.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) The orb lights up.

Location: Found on the Train.

Practical Uses: Can be used to light up dark areas.

Enter the right door in the nexus with a doll on it. Go southeast and enter the train. Go right to the next train car and interact with the NPC.

Maihime/Priestess (舞姫)

Appearance: Suzutsuki wears a fox mask and a shrine maiden outfit.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki briefly removes the mask.

Location: Found in the Tatami Maze.

Practical Uses: Can be used to scare away some NPCs.

Enter the southeast door in the nexus. Navigate the Tatami Maze (while avoiding chasers) to get to the NPC wearing the fox mask and interact with them.

Collar (くびわ)

Appearance: Suzutsuki gains red hair, dog ears and tail.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki barks, attracting NPCs.

Location: Found on the Moon.

Practical Uses:Can be used to move NPCs.

The Light of Heart property is recommended.

Enter the right door in the nexus with a doll on it. Go southeast and enter the train. Exit through the second door in the first train car. Go southeast and enter the rocket. On the Moon, go right. In the more open area, head to the right side of the map again to get to an area with the green-haired NPC. Interact with the cross.

Snow Bunny (ゆきうさぎ)

Appearance: Suzutsuki becomes a snow bunny.

Passive Effect: When activated, it begins to snow.

Action: (A) Toggles snow.

Location: Found in Snow World.

Practical Uses: None.

Enter the red door at the bottom of the nexus. Go southwest and interact with a red crystal. Head left until you reach where the walls become red. Interact with a red crystal in the area to get to the Blue Tile Path. Interact with the snowman. Head northeast and interact with the other snowman. Go a bit west until the snowman is offscreen, then go north and interact with the snow bunny.

Railway Crossing Gate (遮断機)

Appearance: Suzutsuki turns into a flat railway crossing signal.

Passive Effect: NPCs freeze.

Action: None.

Location: Found on the Train Track.

Practical Uses: None.

Enter the right door in the nexus with a doll on it. Go southeast and enter the train. Exit through the second door in the second train car to get to the Train Station. Head left and onto the Train Track. → interact with the crossing gate.

Student's Cap (学生帽)

Appearance: Suzutsuki wears a traditional boy's school uniform.

Passive Effect: Chasers won't target Suzutsuki and she is invincible to their touch.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the School.

Practical Uses: Can be used to avoid chasers.

In the nexus, enter the blue and purple door on the left. Head southwest and interact with the digital speaker. Go straight south until you hit a speaker, then head southwest and interact with the TV. Go northwest and interact with the red TV. In the School, go up to the rooftop and interact with the boy.

Injury (怪我)

Appearance: Suzutsuki becomes covered in bandages.

Passive Effect: Suzutsuki's movement speed is decreased.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Debug Room.

Practical Uses: None.

This effect can only be found in the Debug Room.

Box (匣)

Appearance: Suzutsuki's sprite becomes blocky.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki transforms into a small box and becomes immobile.

Location: Found in the Debug Room.

Practical Uses: None.

This effect can only be found in the Debug Room.

Sniper Rifle (狙撃銃)

Appearance: Suzutsuki carries a sniper rifle.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki aims the sniper rifle and can fire at a point onscreen.

Location: Found on the Stone Path.

Practical Uses: None.

Enter the southeast door in the nexus. Navigate the Tatami Maze (while avoiding chasers) to find another door that leads to the Fangames Reference Gallery. Head up to the next section of the gallery and interact with the large painting. Head right and down the stairs onto the beach. Interact with the bottle in the water. Go southeast and into another bottle with a doorway to get to the Flooded Underground. Make your way to the east side of the map and go up some stairs. Head right. On the Stone Path, go right at the 4-way split, then interact with the red silhouette of a sniper.

Blindness (盲目)

Appearance: Suzutsuki becomes blind as blood oozes from her eye sockets.

Passive Effect: The area around Suzutsuk becomes dimmer.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki hurts her eyes more, making the area around her darker.

Location: Found in the Dark Wooden Floor Maze.

Practical Uses: None.

The Light of Heart property is recommended.

In the nexus, enter the topmost door to get to Neon World. Head east until you reach a cyan object, then go northeast and interact with a tall, flashing NPC. Then, go northeast and interact with a similar-looking NPC. In the Apartment, go through the leftmost doorway, and down the stairs. Enter the door and go down the hole. Here, you can equip the Light of Heart effect to light up the area, although it is not required to navigate the maze. Make your way to the eastern part of the map, and go through a doorway. In the room, interact with the big eyes.

Skewered (串刺し)

Appearance: Suzutsuki becomes impaled by a red pole.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Debug Room.

Practical Uses: None.

This effect can only be found in the Debug Room.

Nine Tails (九尾)

Appearance: Suzutsuki turns into a fox goddess with nine tails and fox ears.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Arms appear around Suzutsuki.

Location: Found in the Forest World.

Practical Uses: None.

Enter the top left red door in the nexus. Then, go northeast and through a cyan arch. Head right and through the other arch. Take a few steps east, then go northeast and interact with the tree. Go northeast and interact with the Nine tails NPC.

Torn (ずたずた)

Appearance: Suzutsuki's clothes becomes torn.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Dark Mansion.

Practical Uses: None.

Enter the top left red door in the nexus. Then, go northeast and through a cyan arch. Head right and through the other arch. Take a few steps east, then go northeast and interact with the tree. Go down until the tree you came from is off screen, then go right and between the line of tree trunks. Go southeast, using the hidden paths to get to a new area: the Dark Mansion. Enter it and go right, down a hallway. Then, go up some stair in the middle and go right. Inside the room, pick up the torn dress.

Donut (ドーナツ)

Appearance: A hole appears in Suzutsuki's head, like a donut.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Red Building.

Practical Uses: None.

The Demon property is required.

Enter the southwest door in the nexus to get to the Church. In the first room, use the Demon effect on a stitched part of the wall to open a hole in it. Enter it and take a left to get to Knife World.Go left a bit, then up and go between the bloody knives. Go left and follow the blood down to find a building surrounded by blocks on the left. Enter it and interact with the girl who has a hole on her face.

Tuning Fork (音叉)

Appearance: Suzutsuki's head turns into a tuning fork.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki strikes her tuning fork head.

Location: Found in the Debug Room.

Practical Uses: None.

This effect can only be found in the Debug Room.

One-Armed (隻腕)

Appearance: Suzutsuki loses an arm while the other becomes very large.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki lets out a burst of power.

Location: Found in Magma World.

Practical Uses: None.

In the nexus, enter the blue and purple door on the left. Head southwest and interact with the digital speaker. Go straight south until you hit a speaker, then head southwest and interact with the TV. Go up and through the hole in the fence, then continue up and interact with the orange, flashing TV. Here, navigate Magma World to find a girl in a red dress. Interact with her to get the effect.

Iron Chain (鉄鎖)

Appearance: Suzutsuki becomes tied up by an iron chain.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Dark Room.

Practical Uses: None.

The Light of Heart property is recommended.

In the nexus, enter the topmost door to get to Neon World. Head east until you reach a cyan object, then go northeast and interact with a tall, flashing NPC. Then, go northeast and interact with a similar-looking NPC. Leave the room and go through the door on the right. Equip the Light of Heart to light up the maze. Go to the right side of the maze, then up and through a door.In the room, go up and a scene will play out, giving you the effect.

Headphones (ヘッドホン)

Appearance: Suzutsuki wears headphones.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Speaker World.

Practical Uses: None.

In the nexus, enter the blue and purple door on the left. Head southwest and interact with the digital speaker. Go straight south until you hit a speaker, then go southeast and interact with the Headphones.

Mermaid (人魚)

Appearance: Suzutsuki becomes a mermaid.

Passive Effect: Suzutsuki's land movement is slowed, while she becomes faster in water.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Ocean.

Practical Uses: None.

The Student's Cap property is required.

Enter the southeast door in the nexus. Navigate the Tatami Maze (while avoiding chasers) to find another door that leads to the Fangames Reference Gallery. Head up to the next section of the gallery and interact with the large painting. Equip the Student's Cap effect and interact with the girl on the pier to make her walk down to the beach side. Interact with her again to get to the Shallow Sea. Here, interact with a Tuna Fish. Go to the southeast part of the map and interact with the mermaid.

Bath Towel (バスタオル)

Appearance: Suzutsuki wears only a bath towel.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) The towel falls a little, and Suzutsuki pulls it back up.

Location: Found in the Hotel Maze.

Practical Uses: None.

Enter the right door in the nexus with a doll on it. Go southeast and enter the train. Exit through the second door in the second train car to get to the Train Station. Go right and into the alleyway. Enter the building and go up to the 4th floor and enter the last door on the right. Go into the elevator to enter the Hotel Maze. Here, find another door to go through, and interact with the bloody cabinet inside the room.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) The screen glitches.

Location: Found in the Debug Room.

Rubber Boot (ながぐつ)

Appearance: Suzutsuki stands in a big yellow rubber rain boot.

Passive Effect: When activated, it begins to rain.

Action: (A) Toggles rain.

Location: Found in Teru Teru Bōzu World.

Practical Uses: None.

Enter the top left red door in the nexus. Then, go northeast and through a cyan arch. Head right and through the other arch. Head straight south and interact with the black object in one of the puddles. Go southwest and interact with the rubber boot.

Sailor Uniform (セーラー)

Appearance: Suzutsuki wears a black sailor-style school uniform.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) The uniform changes color.

Location: Found in the Debug Room.

Practical Uses: None.

This effect can only be found in the Debug Room.

Dinosaur (恐竜)

Appearance: Suzutsuki wears a dinosaur costume.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (A) Suzutsuki roars.

Location: Found in the Jurassic World.

Practical Uses: None.

In the nexus, enter the blue and purple door on the left. Head southwest and interact with the digital speaker. Go straight south until you hit a speaker, then head southwest and interact with the TV. Go up and through the hole in the fence, then continue up and interact with the orange, flashing TV. In Magma World, find a doorway to get to Jurassic World. Go northwest and interact with the large dinosaur skull.

Events

Suzutsuki's Dream Room

Sometimes when entering Suzutsuki's Dream Room, a green haired girl that has dog ears will appear in the room, sleeping on the floor. In addition, interacting with the TV will sometimes have a full screen event similar to Yume Nikki's the Kalimba TV Channel event.

Demon Sensei

There is a white demon NPC sitting on a bone throne in Bones World. If you equip the Demon or Sniper Rifle effects he will slay you with his blade and turn you back into normal form.

Mirror in the Hotel

You can find a mirror in the last room of 3rd floor in Hotel. It will show Suzutsuki's normal form even if you have an effect equipped, unless have the Demon effect equipped, in which case it will show Suzutsuki in Angel form. Equipping Student's Cap effect will show Suzutsuki in Black Sailor Suit.

The girl in the beach

Girl in the Beach

There has a blue hair girl in the beach, equipping Demon, Collar, Student's Cap or Nine Tails effects will attract her, especially Nine Tails effect. Equipping Student's Cap effect and interact with her will make her walk down to the beach side and interact with her again send you to the Shallow Sea. If you equip the Maihime effect, she won't look at you.

Diary Room

There is a room in Dark Buildings World that will show the note pages each time you get an effect, interact with them will show you the diary.

Hidden Tutorial Screens

Upon opening the tutorial screen in the menu, usually it will open to a Japanese tutorial but if you close it and repeatedly open it then there is a chance you will receive a different version of the tutorial or something that isn’t a tutorial at all. It has the possibility to become a version of it in English, a glitchy or hastily written version of it, or finally a corrupted and bloody message with the words "What is the purpose of you?" instead of the normal tutorial.
