Sometsuki had Experiences with Bullying

All of the chasers throughout the game very much resemble schoolgirls. These are possibly representations of people who picked on Sometsuki during her time in school at some stage.

One area in the game is a school-like library, where all NPCs, save for a Schoolgirl, has their face blurred out in darkness. This may be because Sometsuki wasn't close to people in her school or had very few people to rely on whilst dealing with being bullied.

Many of the effects in the game make most NPCs follow Sometsuki around. This may be because in reality, she was seen as a pretty person, which led people to paid attention to her. The Schoolgirls may have envied Sometsuki of her popularity status.

In the game, many Schoolgirls reside in an area called Bloody Water Dungeon that chase after Sometsuki. This is the same world where you can find the scissor statue that gives you the Short Hair effect upon interaction. This could be another case of Sometsuki being bullied by the girls at her school, to a point where they cut her hair short.

Sleepwalking

One possible reason that Sometsuki won't leave her room is because she's a sleepwalker, as noted by her title in the menu. She may have had a history of waking up in weird places after sleepwalking, after which she started locking herself in her room to prevent that.

Sometsuki Was Betrayed

Sometsuki might have been in a past relationship with another character named Midoriko, the girl who resides in the green house of Fantasy Badlands. The two were very close, as evidenced by the fact Sometsuki can sleep next to Midoriko. This may also hint to a romantic relationship between the both. At some point, Sometsuki may have taken a peek at Midoriko's diary, in which the latter reacted to angrily, causing the two to grow apart. As Midoriko resembles a Schoolgirl upon reading the journal, she may have begun bullying Sometsuki much like the girls at her school, betraying Sometsuki in the end.
