Overview

YuMayhem (夢異変) is a Japanese Yume Nikki fangame created by S.Izumina in WOLF RPG Editor. YuMayhem also takes inspiration from the puzzle game Exit 8 (8番出口).

Gameplay

YuMayhem plays like a traditional fangame. The player begins in the Nexus where all but one of the doors are blocked. To progress, players must enter the available dream world, loop through each area to find as many secrets as possible, and obtain the effect in the final room to unlock the next area. A counter at the top-left of the screen indicates how many loops the player must complete to do so. By default, players must loop through each world at least five times. This can be changed by interacting with the floating diamond in the Nexus. To return to the Nexus, players can press X and select the first option on the pop-up menu.

Players can save by interacting with the open book in the Nexus. This book also allows players to track their progress and see what secrets have been found via the Explanation (せつめい) tab. The objective is to reach the ending by collecting all of the effects. Effects cannot be equipped from the menu, but certain worlds will automatically equip an effect for the player.
