Ignite having a dark atmosphere at his whole, can indicate the state of the protagonist's mind. Since he may be depressed because his addiction (aparently is smoking) doesn't relieve his stress and traumas anymore. He suffers from that and doesn't want to talk to anybody, because he is with all that happened to his friends and himself on the clinic. And they look more than addicted, they were crazy, they just stab each other, and maybe it wasn't just for something really worth dying for. Or they lied, to cover the protagnist, to cover him, and this event marks him, and gives him this trauma.
