Overview

Kind Heart is a Yume Nikki fangame made by Orange 100%@Aitsuki (Pixiv Twitter), starring Aitsuki (あいつき). It is currently at version 0.03. As the title implies, the main theme of this game is (mostly red) hearts.

Gameplay

Kind Heart is a traditional fangame, with the protagonist refusing to leave her room, and dreams. You go into the bed to dream, save at your desk and pinch your cheek to wake up, with the main goal being to explore the doors in your nexus and collect effects. Similar to Double Dream (二重遊夢), this game has childish and simple worlds, school and fruits themes, a few gory events, simple BGM, effects without actions or use, and an impersonation of the protagonist's alter ego / counterpart.

You can access the debug room by interacting with the bookcase in Aitsuki's dream room. Starting from version 0.025, all of Aitsuki's sprites have been redone. Being only at version 0.025, this game is still very incomplete and under development. Many places are sectioned off with cones, creating lots of dead ends in almost every world.

Plot

From what is implied in Aitsuki's dreams, she may have had problems with school, even when she tried to be a kindhearted person. The girl who apparently bullied her is the one with the red twintails.

According to Aitsuki's in-game description she appears to be an older sister. She has a younger sister named (according to unimplemented text is) Dakitsuki (だきつき). They appear to be sleeping and living in the same room, as there is a double bed and a desk with two chairs in Aitsuki's room. This may hint to them being twins or just very close friends and sisters.

Dakitsuki is the only chaser in the game so far, but she will never chase or trap you unless you first stab her in the eye with your scissors. After doing so if you are caught, she will teleport you to a sectioned off, heart-shaped area at the heartbeat maze with her already stabbed in the eye, but harmless. According to these events, the younger sister may also be the reason Aitsuki refuses to leave her room - she hates seeing what she had done to her beloved little sister. It is a mystery why she did that to her because they seem to be loving each other and always being friendly to one another. The few possible explanations to this behaviour can be mental affliction or Dakitsuki being the reason to Aitsuki being bullied at school.

Effects

So far none of the effects in this game have a special action when the action key is pressed.

School Uniform / Seifuku (せいふく)		Aitsuki wears a school uniform. This effect is required when going to get the Smile effect.
Smile (えがお)		Aitsuki wears a happy expression on her face. You must obtain School Uniform in order to get this effect.
Snow (ゆき)		Aitsuki's whole body appears to be made of snow. Snow falls once the effect is used.
Scissors (ハサミ)		Aitsuki's weapon, when equipped NPCs will run away from her, and it gives you the ability to kill them.
Panda (バンダ)		Aitsuki wears a Panda hat and hides most of her hair underneath it.
Apple (リンゴ)		Aituski's head becomes an apple.
Doll (にんぎょう)		Aitsuki has blonde hair and wears a pink dress.
Wings (はね)		Aitsuki is floating above the ground and increases moving speed. She has different colored wings and eyes, wears a monochrome dress and has no shoes.
Lantern (ランタン)		Aitsuki dresses up like a boy (?) and carries a pumpkin lantern with her.

Known Bugs/Glitches

• At the original place that gives the Smile effect, it is possible to get more than one of it due to "switch definition" error. You cannot get this from there when you have owned the Snow effect. (The one in the debug room isn't affected, it only allows you to get it there once.)
• When pinching yourself awake at Aitsuki's dark balcony, her sprite becomes normal instead of remaining dark.
• When waking up while being in the Heartbeat Maze, its BGM will continue playing after you wake up. It keeps playing until you save your game again or open the music box.
