From the starting position in Layer 1, go southwest. Head south between two cliffs to find a cluster of mushrooms surrounded by cliffs. There is a random chance of a yellow tower spawning in the middle of the mushroom cluster. Warp to Layer 2 and back until the tower appears. Enter it and go up ladders until you reach the top. Remove the gem from the NPC at the top floor. This will also trigger the Yellow Nightmare event. Interacting with the NPCs of the lower levels will equip the Needle effect during the event, regardless of it it's been obtained.

Effects Guide

Roller Skates (ローラースケート)

From the starting position in Layer 1, head northeast. There will be a cliff with roller skates on top. Warp to layer 2, then move to where you'll be on top of the cliff when you warp back to Layer 1. Pick up the skates.

Mushroom (きのこ)

Can't you eat pink mushrooms?

From the starting position in Layer 1, go southwest. Head south between two cliffs to find a cluster of mushrooms surrounded by cliffs. Needle (はり)

A sharp needle

Passive Effect: Non-hostile NPCs move away from Dres.

Practical Uses: Allows Dres to kill NPCs and trigger events.

From the starting position in Layer 4 (between four yellow circles), go southeast and walk over to a lit up purple building. There is a hidden entrance on the back left side of the building. From the starting position in Layer 4, go north and between two pink and purple objects on the right. In the Crown Maze, start by going left and then up. Navigate the maze until you reach the exit (You'll come out of the maze from underneath the exit). Enter the object to find yourself in a new area. Head north and then continue on the path. Keep going left when the path splits. Go north past the open area. In the next open area, pick up the melodica in the top right. Talking to the clown here is a requirement to unlock Layer 5. Go through the pink and purple objects in the top left to go back to the main Layer 4 world.

Rocket (ロケット)

A small rocket that can fly a little bit

Right above the walls, warp to Layer 1 and position yourself to be inside the walls of Layer 4. Warp back to Layer 4 and walk on the tile to get to the Sky. Flame (ほのお)

A mysterious fire that doesn't get hot to the touch

Passive Effect: A small area around Dres is illuminated.

Action: None.

Location: Found in Flame Room.

Practical Uses: Can be used to trigger events and light up dark areas.

From the starting position in Layer 5, go southwest until you reach a wall of cacti. Warp to Layer 4, then move to where you'll be inside the town when you warp back to Layer 5. Enter the furthest west building in the town and pick up the candle.

Mysterious Box (ふしぎなはこ)

I can't see inside, I feel like I'll be swallowed up.

Appearance: A box with a hand icon appears over Dres and makes her disappear and teleport.

Passive Effect: When equipped, Dres is immediately teleported to a specific area on the layer she's on.

Action: None.

Location: Found in Surprise House.

Practical Uses: Used to warp back to a specific area in each layer.

From the starting position in Layer 4, head east. Enter the building by the cliff. Head left into the next room. For this puzzle, enter the bottom left doorway, then top left, top left, top right, top left. Pick up the box. You can now use the box to get back to the main Layer 4 area.

Liquid (みず)

Something strange happens when I drink it, but for some reason it doesn't disappear

Appearance: Dres drinks the liquid and becomes semi-transparent.

Passive Effect: Most chasers won't actively target Dres.

Action: None.

Location: Found in Liquid Room.

Practical Uses: Can be used to avoid chasers.

Note: Dres is not invulnerable; running into a chaser will still result in a game over.

From the starting position in Layer 6 (between two hands), head northwest. Enter the large white building. In the Lab, head left and then up. Enter the 2nd door from the left and pick up the jar of full of liquid.

Eye (め)

A large eyeball

Appearance: Dres holds a purple eyeball.

Passive Effect: Hidden objects are revealed.

Action: None.

Location: Found in Hand Passage.

Practical Uses: Can be used to see hidden objects.

From the starting position in Layer 6, head southeast to find a passage of hands. If you go through it from the bottoms, there is a chance of entering a new area with hands with purple eyes. If not, keep going through them until you are. Once you are there, continue up the passage then straight up and interact with the blinking hand at the top.

Old Notebook (ふるびたノート)

My faded notebook has become scratched up before I realized it.

Appearance: Dres holds a brown notebook.

Passive Effect: Obtaining this item unlocks the Memories (おもいで) section on the title screen.

Action: None.

Location: Found in Rusty Hut (Notebook).

Practical Uses: Achievements can be viewed through the title screen.

In Layer 5, there is a random white NPC in one of the two towns that will teleport Dres to a new area when interacted with. In the Rusty World, head a little bit left and then down. Enter the building with a doorway and you'll nee a notebook on the left side. If it's in the top left, enter and exit until it is in the lower left and accessible to Dres and pick it up. To exit Rusty Horld, find a hut that has a brown clock inside and interact with it to take you the clock NPC in Layer 1 OR trigger blue orb event (See Event Guide section) to go back to Layer 5.

Coin (コイン)

A red coin

Appearance: Dres wears a red coin around her neck with a grim expression.

Passive Effect: After obtaining the effect, NPCs have a chance of dropping coins when killed and a new area is accessible when equipped.

Action: None.

Location: Found in Hell's Depths.

Practical Uses: Used to gain coins to unlock a menu theme.

Kill at least 30 NPCs. Then, go down the stairs in the sepia area in layer 3. Continue downward until you see a red NPC. Touching it will transport you to hell. Wander around and find the red NPC 4 times, with each time teleporting it and removing a part of it. Catching it a final time will transport you to Hell's Depths. The NPC will appear and disappear in the starting position here. When it's visible, interact with it to get the effect. Navigate the area until you find the blue NPC to take you back.

Invincible (むてき)

I can't be chased anymore

Appearance: Dres wears a black and purple mask with a smiling expression.

Passive Effect:Dres is unable to be caught by chasers.

Action: None.

Location: Found in a random location in any layer 1 to 6.

Practical Uses: Used to avoid being caught by chasers.

A mask NPC will randomly spawn in an area. Interacting with it will have it ask the player if they'd like assistance. Replying with the first option will give Dres the effect. It may spawn in areas that are inaccessible. If this happens, reload the save file.

In Layer 7 (White), Tnteract with NPCs until one takes you to a raised platform with a building. Enter it and look for two signs each with an arrow pointing up. Go between them to enter a new area. Interact with the three-legged cat NPC.

Layer 1

Unlocked by default.

Layer 2

Unlocked by default.

Layer 3

Unlocked by default.

Layer 4

From the starting position in Layer 2, go north. Head northwest when you see a circle of small cones and walk up to the blue house. Equip the key effect to enter the house. Layer 4 can now be warped to.

Layer 5

Talk to the clown in the Crown Passage and enter the Club in Layer 4 (See Needle and Melodica sections in Effects Guide).

Layer 6

In the starting position in the Rusty World, head northeast. Enter a building with a doorway to find yourself on the Ocean Floor. Head left to see a Moss Boat.

OR

Trigger the Red Seed Event (See Event Guide).

Layer 7

In the Lab, head down 2 flights of stairs to get to B2F. Here, head east to get to the end of the hallway and enter the door. Interact with the red button to see an image appear on the screen. Repeat this until the entire screen is filled with static. Enter the Lab again and head left and enter the top left door on the west wall. The stools are now gone, allowing you to enter the door. Go up the path to get to Layer 7 (White). This path is the only way to travel to and from Layer 7.

Layer 8

From the starting position in Layer 6, head right until you see a cluster of fingers. Head a little bit southeast of the cluster. There is a random chance of a door spawning in this area. If it doesn't appear, swap to Layer 5 and back until it spawns. Enter the door and then go to the center of the room. This is the only way to travel to Layer 8. To return, entering a red building here will transport Dres to a random location in the dreamworld.

Events Guide

Red Seed

From the starting position in Layer 5, head southeast and you'll see a single small building with an NPC in front of it. use the Needle effect to stab it, and enter the building. Head West, then north a few screens until you reach a north wall with a long pattern in the center of it. Use the Needle on the pattern and enter it. Interact with the red seed.

Cube Party

This event contains rapidly flashing colors, so take caution.

Once you have interacted with all colo4red cubes, Return to the grey cube in its house. It will comment that you've met all of its friends and that they all will get together soon. Talking to the cube again will have it ask if you'd like to join. Selecting the first option will trigger the event.
