Overview

Dream Vacation is a Yume Nikki parody fangame made by ObscuritySTA. Several assets and contributions to the game were also made possible by users such as Frankie1205 and Nexus0.10.

This game is meant to be a Yume Nikki fangame as made with the creator's capabilities at the time in terms of art and programming. The author has stated on the game page that the game is not meant to be taken seriously.

Gameplay

The game stars Sheru, a young man who stays on his balcony at a condo, rather than a room. Sheru is either incapable or unwilling to leave his room, although it is hinted that it may just be his pure refusal to leave that is keeping him in.

The game has a traditional nexus and exploring segments, but also has a handful of first person areas controlled by the mouse.

Upon completing the main game on any version after v2.0.1, a secondary section called "Another Way" is unlocked. This segment has you play as a new character named Shokatsuki, who seems to be seeking after Sheru. Shokatsuki must explore the darker side of Sheru's mind and trade items with various merchants in order to obtain a solar panel. Once she obtains this, she finds Sheru and the player can get one of two extra endings.

Effects

Effects in this game are not rendered as separate sprites, but rather as separate objects that are layered over Sheru/Shokatsuki. The images here are mockups made in photoshop.

Sheru's Effects

Name	Image	Description
Chadburn		Sheru replaces his head with a Chadburn. Pressing Z in the pool world activates this effect, which can call upon a boat to emerge from the water.
Silenced MAC-10		Sheru arms himself with a suppressed MAC-10 submachine gun. Pressing X in the rooftop world activates this effect, which replaces the player's cursor with a reticle. Left clicking with this reticle out fires the gun.
Pool Noodle		Sheru wields a pool noodle. This is the only effect that does not have a bound key to access, but is instead automatically equipped at the boogie board world.

Shokatsuki's Effects

Name	Image	Description
Chronicle	N/A	Pressing Z in Another Way results in Shokatsuki pulling up a map detailing which route from the Nexus leads to which of the three merchants.
Karambit		Shokatsuki grabs a karambit. Its appearance is purely cosmetic, and only comes into play during END 2.

Trade Items

Blue Ice Cream - found in Shokatsuki's Nexus. Can be traded to the sad mask for Watermelon Ramune.
Watermelon Ramune - obtained from the sad mask. Can be traded to the joy mask for a Hobo Nickel.
Hobo Nickel - obtained from the joy mask. Can be traded to the emotionless mask for a Jade Pyramid.
Jade Pyramid - obtained from the emotionless mask. Can be traded to the sad mask for an Ice Key.
Ice Key - obtained from the sad mask. Can be traded to the joy mask for an Oriental Lantern.
Oriental Lantern - obtained from the joy mask. Can be traded to the emotionless mask for a AAA Battery.
AAA Battery - obtained from the emotionless mask. Can be traded to the sad mask for a Solar Panel.
Solar Panel - obtained from the sad mask. Press X in the nexus when you have this to find Sheru and begin the finale.
