Overview

Mortalis (モルターリス, Morutārisu) is a Yume Nikki Fangames created by Inari (稲荷) in WOLF RPG Editor, starring Shimotsuki (しもつき). The game was originally an OriYume (オリ夢) project, but was later given a public release.

Gameplay

Mortalis is a traditional Yume Nikki fangame. Shimotsuki refuses to leave her room, instead exploring a dream world seeking to collect effects. In the room, the bed is used to enter the dream world and the laptop is used to save, along with listening to music. Additionally, there is a game console resembling a GameCube in the room that can be used to play Tomato (described further below).

Uniquely, music tracks are not given by merely entering areas. Instead, tracks are collected through finding floating orange music notes in dream world locations.

In Tomato, the player must use the character to catch falling tomatoes: green tomatoes score 1 point, red tomatoes score 5 points, and yellow tomatoes score 10 points. The tomatoes fall faster after a certain score is reached. After 3 tomatoes hit the floor, a game over occurs. Pressing Q on the title screen displays high scores.

Plot

Not much is known about the plot. The game stars Shimotsuki, a girl who refuses to leave her room.

Wheel (車輪)		Shimotsuki turns into a wheel, increasing her speed. Pressing 1 makes the wheel lay down.
Hourglass (砂時計)		Shimotsuki turns into an hourglass with a pair of shoes. Pressing 1 makes her flip forward.
Earmuffs and Muffler (耳当てとマフラー)		Shimotsuki wears a pair of earmuffs and a muffler. Pressing 1 changes her into a snowman and causes snow to fall.
Middle Parted Hair (真ん中分け)		Shimotsuki's hair becomes parted at the middle, revealing her (closed) eyes. Pressing 1 makes her open her eyes.
Red Riding Hood (赤ずきん)		Shimotsuki wears a red hood. Pressing 1 makes her pull the hood down, revealing wolf ears.
Albino (アルビノ)		Shimotsuki's hair turns light blue.
Erosion (浸食)		Shimotsuki's head is being enveloped by a purple creature.
