In core essence, it is not entirely an eccentric fangame. It's unique characteristics are the existence of several effects on the same maps and its hallmark zoomorphic panoramas.

Title: ''* illness *''
This work is based on and has been based around the ideas of the original "Dream Diary" [''Yume Nikki''].
Nice to meet you. For those of you who took time to play my previous work, ''[[M∞N]]'', it has been a while. While I did indeed do that short work, this time I did a serious game. Please enjoy ''* illness *''.
===Game description:===

==Gameplay==
The purpose of the game is to roam the dream world. You can obtain the effects in your dream, which can change your appearance. There are also a few that have certain behaviors when you press the Shift key.
Very much like the original Yume Nikki, its gameplay is centered on the exploration of a hikikomori's dreams. The player enters the dream world by sleeping in the bed. Scattered throughout the dream world are effects which will change the main character's appearance and/or provide new abilities. Players can save by waking up and interacting with the book on the desk.

There are a few known bugs in the game.

Overview

*Illness* is a Japanese fangame by Atami, developed in WOLF RPG Editor. With sixteen effects and no endings, the game appears to be in its final version. While there are a number of obvious bugs, it shows large graphical and structural improvement over the author's previous game from at least one year prior.

In core essence, it is not entirely an eccentric fangame. It's unique characteristics are the existence of several effects on the same maps and its hallmark zoomorphic panoramas.

Gameplay

Very much like the original Yume Nikki, its gameplay is centered on the exploration of a hikikomori's dreams. The player enters the dream world by sleeping in the bed. Scattered throughout the dream world are effects which will change the main character's appearance and/or provide new abilities. Players can save by waking up and interacting with the book on the desk.

Controls

  • Move - Arrow Keys
  • Interact - Z/Space/Enter
  • Open Menu/Cancel - X/Esc
  • Effect Action - Shift

Plot

You play as Origamitsuki, a girl who doesn't want to leave her bedroom, and explore her dreams.

Footnotes

  1. Umineko is the Japanese word for the Black-tailed gull, though it is usually written in kana (ウミネコ). Paired with the Higurashi reference, the effect name is a likely nod to 07th Expansion's other visual novel series, Umineko No Naku Koro Ni.
  2. The outfit is a reference to Rena Ryūgū, a character from the Japanese visual novel series Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni.
