The Looking Glass is a Yume Nikki fangame by Bleet/blt. It stars a girl names Irene as she explores the newly-opened world behind her mirror.

Like Me and Hell Diary, The Looking Glass features spoken dialogue and flavourtext when interacting with objects and characters. The game also features light adventure elements, such as simple puzzles and increased interactivity in the normal world. Unlike most protagonists Irene is also capable of leaving her room, and begins the game in her classroom at her school.

Gameplay Mechanics

In The Looking Glass, players follow the traditional Yume Nikki fangame exploration scheme. However, in some parts of the game, Irene will make quips when examining items, or cutscenes will play out where the characters are speaking. During these sections, their portraits appear, and they have a variety of expressions. There are no endings in the game yet.

There is a small amount of adventure gameplay in The Looking Glass, in the form of effects required to solve minor problems or puzzles.

Effects

Here are the variety of effects in this game, listed below:

Crowbar - Weapon effect, found in the basement of the apartment complex in a cabinet. The flashlight is required to get it.

Flashlight - If the shift key is hit, the flashlight can illuminate darkened areas. Found in Pokemon World.

Roller Skates - Found in the Haunted Mansion area in a child's room. Speeds Irene up.

Glowstick - Makes the screen flash colours, found in the neon world.

White Queen - Turns Irene into a slow-moving chess piece. The pieces blocking the path to the airship in Chess World will move aside for her.

Octopus - Turns Irene into an octo-girl. Found underwater.

Yeti - Irene becomes a yeti. Found in the snowy area.

Cybot - Turns Irene into a machine girl. Found in the Apartments.

Long Hair - Gives Irene long hair much like the Long Hair effect from Yume Nikki.

Witch- Turns Irene into a witch. Found in the golden ship by talking to the sleeping girl. Exactly like Medamaude from Yume Nikki.

Kinoko- Makes mushrooms grow fro your face. A cosmetic effect.

Alice- A cosmetic effect, only current way to obtain it is from the debug room.
