Wishful Thinking is an English Yume Nikki Fangame by Liquid in RPG Maker 2003.

On March 5th, 2023, the game was remade, overhauling the graphics and adding various features.

Gameplay

Wishful Thinking is a traditional fangame. The goal currently is to explore the dream world and collect Ideas (effects) along with Music Boxes and Keys. You enter the dream world by sleeping in the bed, and save by interacting with the desk. Joshua is able to leave his room and explore his cabin.

Controls

  • Move - Arrow Keys
  • Interact - Z/Enter
  • Open Menu - X/Esc
  • Use Idea - 1
  • Wake Up - 9

Plot

You play as Joshua and explore his dreams.

Ideas (Effects)

In Wishful Thinking, Ideas are actually physical objects in the real world, with small flavor text giving some background to Joshua. Collecting an Idea also unlocks a menu theme based on the Idea.
