Rudyard Kipling, British poet

N'Oubliez Jamais (French for "never forget") is Russian author Perverse Suffering's supposedly unfinished fangame title, an entry into the experimental gaming genre drastically different from the original Yume Nikki and its more traditional fangames, and taking a much more realistic appraoch to lucid dreaming. Upon entering the bed, the player is immersed in a short dream chosen at random, as opposed to the common nexus leading to wherever one chooses to go. The only input the player is allowed is how they deal with each dream, i.e., their actions will have consequences on the outcome of the game. Jamais has been often compared, by fans, to games like Nintendo's WarioWare in this regard.

Protagonist and Bedroom

You play as Al Ree, a young boy who, according to the menu screen, is a prophet, as is evidenced throughout the game once more dreams are completed. For example, experiencing certain dreams produce a number of memorabilia in the protagonist's bedroom.

Ree, unlike many Madotsuki and similar protagonists, lives in a three-room apartment with his parents and cat, and is able to traverse the outside of his home. Strangely enough, exiting the main room of the apartment leads directly outside the complex and onto the street, either implying they are on the first floor with immediate access to the outdoors in lieu of a lobby or that the designer chose to omit traversing the rest of the building altogether. The adjacent street and alleyway available are featureless and gray. Randomly there will be either a red-headed girl leaning out a nearby window or a silver car on the street.

Though Al Ree's tone, as deducted from his annotations to gathered memories (see Gameplay),

Gameplay

This fangame works quite unlike any others. Instead of exploring a set dream world, you have different mini-game like environments for you to explore. The way it works is like this: When you go to bed, you are transported to an area. You may have to put out a fire, or explore a maze. Depending on what you do, when the dream ends, you get one of four memories. The four memory types are:

  1. Cruel
  2. Happy
  3. Rage
  4. Illusion

The ending is determined on whichever type you get 5 of each for, without exception. For instance, let's say you get 4 Happy memories, but then you get 5 Cruel Memories first. You'd still get the Cruel Ending first, because you got 5 of them.
