Overview

Anamorphosis is a Chinese Yume Nikki fangame made by shirleycrow (雪鴉). Before version -0.75, the game was made with RPG Maker 2003 and was almost entirely in simplified Chinese, until it was remade in RPG Maker VX Ace and given a mainly English vocabulary.

Gameplay

You take the role of Kikei (畸形子), the protagonist of this game. According to their in-game title, they have Dissociative Amnesia. The game starts with Kikei in a bloody room. You save at the green book, which also lets you view a section with pictures. The blue book shows a cut-scene and continues with puzzles (currently inaccessible). Interacting with the wall where it says "here" gives you an ending. Investigate the biggest bloodstain in the room to enter the nexus.

Plot

From the very start of this game, you are able to end it. Upon interaction with the wall that says "here", Kikei will die/commit suicide and the game will end with the writing "Happy Ending". This it hardly a spoiler, since it's very easy to activate this ending by mistake from the very start, as the way to the nexus is less obvious in this game.

Effects

Effects in this game are known as Personalities (人格).

Every single Personality turns Kikei into something that bears no resemblance to their original self at all. This feature is unusual for other fangames, as the effects in most games are usually a depiction of the protagonist holding something, or partially turning into a different thing or item.

Chrrasus		"actinia" The speed effect. A floating, possibly mutilated head of a girl with red eyes and orange hair tied in twintails with red ribbons.

Fomlwrdi		"dryad" A green haired, red-eyed, horned dryad. She has tree roots where her legs should be. There are branches with flowers that sprout out of her head and/or hair. She wears a white gown. It is unclear whether Kikei actually has limbs in this form or not.
