Overview

Journal Nikki is a Yume Nikki fangame made by Nexus0.10 and Frankie1205.

As of version 1.05, Frankie1205 joined the development of Journal Nikki, improving the graphics of the game. The creator states that it's still an ongoing process, resulting in an inconsistent art style for now.

Gameplay

The game stars Ichitsuki, and begins in the hallway rather than in his room. Ichitsuki can leave his room but refuses to go beyond the hallway to the living room.

The effects are numbered in-game.

0. Instructions	N/A	The game's instructions. A certain item can be used to reveal an altered message in them.
1. Pink Shirt		Ichitsuki wears a pink shirt, making some chasers move faster.
2. Kazoo		Ichitsuki carries a kazoo. Pressing SHIFT makes him play a note with it. Playing it more than four times however makes him realize he broke it, and he automatically unequips it.
3. Mud		Ichitsuki becomes covered in mud and walks much slower.
4. Black Hole		Ichitsuki has a black hole for a head and the screen slowly darkens until it's pitch-black.
5. Mosaic		Ichitsuki becomes distorted. Attempting to move results in him moving in random directions.
6. Gray		Ichitsuki becomes gray-scale. Pressing SHIFT teleports him to the place where he got the effect.
7. Lemon		Ichitsuki becomes a lemon. He cannot move.
8. Roller Coaster		Ichitsuki rides a derailed roller coaster, largely increasing his speed. Moving too much while using this effect makes him feel sick and wake up.
9. Fish		Ichitsuki carries a fish as a "weapon". Using it against many NPCs will cause negative reactions, most commonly turning them into a chaser. Pressing SHIFT also makes him swing it in circles.
10. Construction		Ichitsuki puts on a construction worker's uniform. Traffic cones appear in some areas when using this effect, barring access to them until you take it off.
11. Mouth		Ichitsuki's mouth is shown. Pressing SHIFT makes him smile incredibly awkwardly.

2. Translate		Ichitsuki wears a blue shirt with a magenta question mark. Interacting with some NPCs with dialogue will "translate" the text into poorly-written English. Replaced with the Kazoo effect in ver.1.05
