Overview

Caged is an English Yume Nikki fangame made by SleepyMichaela in RPG Maker 2003.

Gameplay

Caged plays like a traditional fangame. Sleeping in the bed lets you enter the dream world. From there, there are various areas that you can explore to find all of the effects and photos found around the worlds. Saving is done by interacting with the papers on the floor in the reality's bedroom. Check how many and which photos you have obtained by interacting with the photos on the floor in the dream's bedroom.

There are 3 planned endings; only 2 are currently implemented.

There are 21 planned effects; only 11 are currently implemented.

Plot

Keiji is a young boy stuck in his small, unkept room; unwilling to leave it for a reason he doesn't want to think about. The only way he can escape the room is by going to bed and exploring his dreams. Explore his unconscious to uncover effects and help him escape his reality...

Effects

Name	Image	Description	Icon
Rabbit		Keiji becomes a rabbit, increasing his speed. Pressing Shift makes him sit.
Bone Saw		Keiji carries a rusty bone saw, causing most NPCs to move away from him. Touching an NPC will cause him to attack.
Heart Monitor		Keiji's head becomes a heart monitor. Pressing Shift returns him to the nexus.
Leaf		Keiji's hair is replaced with wet leaves. Pressing Shift causes rain to start or stop.
Halo		Keiji turns into an angel. Pressing Shift makes him invisible to NPCs and Chasers.
Lamb		Keiji becomes a lamb. Pressing Shift attracts most NPCs.
Unknown		Keiji's face becomes covered in a black tar-like substance. Pressing Shift opens a white eye on his face that uncovers hidden areas, NPCs, etc.
Dark Hair		Keiji's hair turns black. Pressing Shift causes him to smile and chasers will approach him.
Chalk		Keiji's body turns into a chalk drawing. Pressing Shift turns the screen's colors monochrome.
Candy		Keiji's hair has candy in it. Pressing Shift lets him grab a piece of candy from his hair and eat it.
Mask		Keiji wears a Trickster mask. Pressing Shift has him laugh.

Characters

Character	Sprite	Description
Airi		Keiji's real life sister who he often sees in random parts of his dreams. She will come in many different forms and interacting with her with give you a photograph before disappearing. She may only respond with certain effects or when no effects are active.
Doctors		This game's chasers. They can be found in Keiji's more traumatic and/or gorey dreams.
Candy Cat Girl		A cat girl made of candy who runs the Candy Cafe. She responds to many effects.
Aura		A strange girl with a computer screen for a head, with crystals coming out of it. She is in a building in the Destroyed Dream City. Interacting with her will take you to the Rainbow Desert. She responds to some effects.
Trickster		A boy with a fox mask and tail who disguises himself as one of the surrounding NPCs in the current world you are in. If interacted with he will show himself, laugh, and then send you to a random world. However, interact with him with the Unknown effect and he will give you the Mask effect.
