Effects Guide

Vampire

Become a vampire/A second-hand Halloween costume.

Appearance: Pale becomes a vampire and loses his shadow, wearing dark clothes and a black cape.

Passive Effect: Pale's movement speed increases.

Action: (Shift) Pale transforms into a bat.

Location: Found in the dream bedroom.

Practical Uses: Used to travel through the dream world faster.

In the dream bedroom, interact with the vampire costume.

Yolk

Have Yolk on head/A yellow rubber duck.

Appearance: Pale wears a rubber duck on his head.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (Shift) The duck squeaks.

Location: Found in the Bubble Bath world.

Practical Uses: None.

In the nexus, interact with the bottom right object to reveal it as a waste bin. In the Waste world, go right until you see a vertical path that leads to an opening in a chain link fence. Enter it and go north. Head right past the houses and enter the last one. Go through the back door and interact with the drum of water in the backyard. Head southeast and pick up the rubber duck.

Syringe

Hold a sharp syringe/A used disposable needle.

Appearance: Pale holds a syringe.

Passive Effect: Non-hostile NPCs move away from Pale.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Sharp world.

Practical Uses: Used to poke NPCs and access some events.

Interact with the top middle object in the nexus to reveal it as a box cutter. Head southwest (more south than west) and you'll see some broken glass. Walk over it and once the area turns bloody, follow the path southeast and pick up the syringe.

Dirty

Get dirty/A torn trash bag.

Appearance: Pale becomes dirty.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (Shift) Pale wipes his face.

Location: Found in the Waste backyard.

Practical Uses: Used to trigger an event.

In the Waste world, head south until you see a group of colored trash bins. Head over to them and continue south. Interact with the lone trash bag with flies around it.

Balloon

Hold a balloon/A deflated plastic balloon.

Appearance: Pale holds a yellow balloon.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: None.

Location: Found on the School Rooftop.

Practical Uses: Used to trigger an event.

Having the Vampire and Syringe effects are recommended.

Interact with the top right object in the nexus to reveal it as a book. In the Symbols world, go southeast and walk between the two stacks of books. There are chasers in the area, so equip the Vampire effect and go southeast, avoiding the nurse. In the next area, go east and then south. Head east and enter the locker. Exit the bathroom to the southeast. Go up several flights of stairs until you reach the top, then head to the right and go up another set of stairs. Head up more stairs and you'll find yourself on the roof. Use the Syringe effect to clear the way to get to the top left of the map. Interact with the yellow balloon.

Faceless

Become faceless/A piece of black tape.

Appearance: Pale's face is covered by a black X.

Passive Effect: Chasers won't actively target Pale.

Action: None.

Location: Found in the Theatre.

Practical Uses: Can be used to avoid chasers.

Note: Pale is not invulnerable; running into a chaser will still result in him being transported.

In the nexus, interact with the bottom middle object to reveal it as a teddy bear,In the Cloth world, go a bit southeast and when you get to some blue and grey fabric, go south until you see a rope. Climb up it. In the Plushies town, go east to get to the next area and continue until you reach the last house before a patch of grass. Enter it and interact with the teddy bear in the painting. Exit the room and go through the door in the north part of the Theatre. Interact with the large NPC in the room.

Notes

Covered with sticky notes/A crumpled paper ball.

Appearance: Pale in covered in yellow sticky notes.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (Shift) Pale drops a note; 6 can be placed at a time.

Location: Found in the Note world.

Practical Uses: Used to mark places on the map.

Having the Vampire effect is recommended.

Head to the Symbols world. Here, equip the Vampire effect and go east and find a fast-moving symbol NPC. Interact with it until it teleports you to a new area. Head southeast and interact with the note NPC.

Gasoline

Become flammable/A handful of burnt matchsticks.

Appearance: Pale becomes drenched in gasoline.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (Shift) Pale ignites and is teleported to the nexus.

Location: Found in the Warehouse.

Practical Uses: Used to warp back to the nexus.

In the nexus, interact with the object on the left. Here, go left and follows the puddles of gasoline. Enter the large puddle. Go left and into the crack. Head south and then west. Spiral around and interact with the burnt object in the middle of the room.

Events


Cleaned Event

The Dirty effect is needed for this event.

If Pale wears the Dirty Effect in the Bubble Bath world, he'll eventually become clean, taking off the effect.

Nighttime Event

The Balloon effect is needed for this event.

In the Plushies town, continue all the way east past the town and you'll reach a grassy area. Continue until you reach the end with a bench. Equip the Balloon effect and sit on the bench. Pale will fall asleep and it will become nighttime. Explore the town to find that all the NPCs have gone to bed. This also opens up an alternative route to the Bubble Bath world, since the yarn NPC that blocks a path is now asleep.

Hurt Pale Event

The Syringe effect is needed for this event.

Starting from the box cutter, go southwest (more west than south) and enter a doorway with shattered glass around it. Go a bit right and then turn south. Keep going south until you hit a wall and then go west and south again until you hit another wall. Go west, north, then west again to find a set of stairs. Go up the stairs and continue following the path until you see another Pale sitting on the ground. Use the Syringe effect on him a few times and a nurse chaser will show up to take you to an inescapable area.
