gOverview
.ExE (or dotEXE) is an English Yume Nikki fangame made by Fg7 in RPG Maker 2003. The original version starred Hoshiko, a girl who refused to leave her house. The game has since been remade with Carrie as the protagonist.
Gameplay
Like .flow, .ExE involves entering a dream world through the protagonist's computer, with Carrie clicking on an application as opposed to Sabitsuki immediately entering. Similar to Hallucigenia, Carrie takes on a different form in the dream world. The main objective is exploration and collecting effects.
Interestingly, entering one of the nexus doors results in an event where Carrie is immediately frightened by the location and exits, only for the door to become permanently barred.
Carrie saves using a floppy disk icon on her desktop. As a cosmetic feature, the wallpaper can be changed between two images.
