Overview

Returning Nightmares is an English Yume Nikki fangame created by Doc Saturn. It was made in RPG Maker 2003.

Gameplay

Returning Nightmares is a traditional fangame. You enter the dream world by sleeping in the bed, and save using the computer in the bedroom. In the dream world your goal is to collect Memories (effects) and uncover the main character's past. The game includes dialogue as well as unlockable menus.

Plot

The goal of the game is to explore Akira's dream world, find all of his old memories, and try to make sense of his past.

Switchblade		Akira wields a switchblade, allowing him to attack NPCs.
Warlock		Akira dresses as a warlock. Pressing shift teleports Akira back to the Nexus.
Wings		Akira sprouts wings. Pressing shift switches between light and dark wings.
Ink		Akira becomes ink. Pressing shift makes him smaller.
Neon		Akira becomes neon, changing color as he walks.
School Uniform		Akira wears a school uniform.
Alice		Akira wears a maid dress. Pressing shift changes the color.
Dress Shirt		Akira wears a dress shirt.
Cat		Akira dresses like a cat, gains cat ears and a tail. Pressing shift makes him meow.
Glitch		Akira becomes glitched.
Lockbox		Akira's head is replaced with a box.
Gang Uniform		Akira wears a gang uniform.
