Effects Guide

This guide shows the fastest way to collect the effects. You can obtain all of the effects without having already unlocked the five extra doors in the Nexus, but unlocking them will allow you to travel much shorter distances.

Scrapbook (スクラップブック)

Save anywhere

In Usotsuki's Dream Room, there is a white book that stands out in a bookshelf. Interact with it to obtain the Scrapbook.

Match (マッチ)

Become a match

YumeNisshiFaceset2.png

Appearance: Usotsuki's head turns into a match.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (Shift) The match is lit. Pressing it again will blow out the flame and she will be left with a black burnt-out head. Pressing it a third time will bring it back to normal.

Location: Found in Snow World.

Practical Uses: Can be used in the Dark Maze to make the paths much easier to see, as well as being crucial to finding effects like the Rabbit and doing other things. It can also be used to kill Hanabatake, unique in its ability to kill an NPC outside of using the Nail bat.

In the Snow World, walk downwards until you hit a brick wall, and interact with a nearby girl wearing winter clothing to obtain the effect.

Nail Bat (釘バット)

Have a nail bat

YumeNisshiFaceset5.png

Appearance: Usotsuki holds a nail bat.

Passive Effect: NPCs may move away from her.

Action: None.

Location: Found in School.

Practical Uses: This effect allows Usotsuki to kill or injure NPCs (which sometimes leave behind money).

In the Snow World, walk right until you find a floating stained glass window. Interact with it to enter the church, then go straight up and enter the doors to the School. Go up to the 4th floor of this place and head to the reverse side of the room, head inside the center door there and interact with the nail bat behind the closet.

Porcelain Doll (ビスクドール)

Become a doll

YumeNisshiFaceset3.png

Appearance: Usotsuki's hair becomes longer, and she is dressed in a pink doll outfit with a pink bow on head. If you are in possession of the Chocolate, a dripping heart will appear beside the entrance to Usotsuki's dream room on her balcony: interacting with it while the effect is equipped enables you to toggle the pattern on her dress between brown plaid and pink.

Passive Effect: The woman who makes up half of the Faceless Couple may follow you around; reversely, it will repel the man.

Action: (Shift) Causes Usotsuki to curtsy.

Location: Found in Doll Room.

Practical Uses: None.

Alternatively, enter the Desert World, go straight up and enter the box you find to the Crimson World; head right and interact with the capillary to enter the Doll World. From there you just need to search for the doll that gives you the effect.

Light the candle with the Match Effect and head right; you should enter the Rose Garden. From the entrance head up, up, right, and down, and then interact with the rabbit you should find.

If done correctly, eventually you'll return to the clock cat room, which now will have an entrance in one of the walls. Go south and climb the ladder to a room that has a cage. Interact with the cage to obtain the effect.

For unknown reasons, this effect appears to be inaccessible in version 0.04+ since you can't enter the hidden door (possibly due to a bug). It is however accessible in version 0.05.

Pliant (ぐにゃぐにゃ)

First kill NPCs for money or find some randomly on the ground in the dream world (the rooms in hospital have a number of such spots that twinkle where there is money). Go from the Dark Maze to the Blue Box World, search for a neon streetlight and interact with it. Inside the Neon Forest, find an entrance leading underground. Continue along the path to the Train Station. Go left across the platform and take the elevator to the roof, then down to another elevator going down. Take the stairs to your left and follow the path back to the train station, where you'll be on the other side of the platform. Interact with the white creature to pay 100 money and board the train car. There is a small chance that instead of the usual green car you will be inside one with red seats and a lone shadowy figure. Take a seat and wait for Usotsuki to doze off and for the screen to fade to black. When she awakes, exit right through the gored bust into the Burning Room. Find a cluster of black figures and activate either the Horns or Match effect to reveal a wiggly shade in the middle. Interact with it to get the effect.

Alternatively, if you have already unlocked the Rainbow Forest World door, you can skip the first part of the directions.

Interact with the pyramid for the effect.

Doors Guide

There are five extra doors in the Nexus that do not appear until you access the worlds from alternate paths; these instructions will tell you how to reach them.

Amoeba World

Go from the Dark Maze to Silent Hill to the Smokestack World and then the Snow Forest; go into the Cube House and into the east room and enter the television to the Gameboy World A. Inside, go into the building and go up until you reach the exit, walk to the end, and enter the Amoeba World.

Alternatively, go from the Snow World to the Church to the School to the Hospital, to the reverse side of the third floor, to the Curtain World. Entering this world will make the Amoeba World door appear in the Nexus.

Mirror World

Go from the Snow World to the church to the school. Head to the basement and head to the hospital; from here go up to the third floor, head to the reverse side of the room, and enter the door on the left. Head straight down the path and walk behind a shower curtain. In the Curtain World, head northeast and walk over a black splatter to see a strung-up figure in the sky; after you teleport, head left and interact with a headless Trisha with a fanged hole in her back. From inside go left a bit then up, and interact with the eye in the center of a pool of blood. Search around the White Plains for a tent surrounded by white walls; enter and then walk through the hands to the Mirror World.

Alternatively, you can also enter the Mirror World by taking the right Hell Gate from the Red Maze.

Rainbow Forest World

Go from the Dark Maze to the Blue Box World, search for a neon streetlight and interact with it to enter the Rainbow Forest World.

Red Sea

Travel from the Snow World to the Church and head straight up until you see a little red dot; interact with the dot and head left until you find a candle. Light the candle with the Match Effect and head right; you should enter the Rose Garden. From here, search for a tree and enter inside to reach the Red Sea.

Mural World

Go from the Dark Maze to the Blue Box World and search until you find a crystal inside one of the boxes. Interact with this and then find a red tower with a door in the side; go straight down the hall to the end and interact with the crystal there. Go straight and interact with the star to enter the Mural World.

Alternatively, you can also enter the Mural World by taking the right Hell Gate from the Red Maze.

Events

Legs in Blue City

In Blue City, there is a random chance that a pair of giant legs will appear, taking over the screen and background music with its footsteps. This event is the equivalent to Yume Nikki's Takofuusen event.

Dipped in Yolk

In the Egg World, one of the colorful eggs has an open door. Entering it takes you to the isolated section of the Red Sea world, where you can go through the other trees. This will take you to a closed-off section of Egg World, with an egg dipped in the yolk that you can enter. Inside of the egg, there is a small pool. Interacting with it, Usotsuki will jump down and be seen in the yolk. During the event, there will be brief scenes showing Usotsuki's hands, and her lower body. Exiting this event, Usotsuki will be covered in yolk.

Dream Balcony Sky

The sky of Usotsuki's dream balcony depends on what song you left playing on the radio in the real world. Leaving the song that is similar sounding to Egg World's background music will give the sky a glitched appearance, where leaving the second tune playing will make it more colorful. Re-entering the balcony will change the sky back to its black and white appearance. This can also happen if you dream without playing any song on the radio.

Corpse Blitz

In the Marble Hill, there resides two inhabitants; Pholus and Trisha. If you attack Pholus with the nail bat, he will be enraged. Attacking Trisha will also trigger the same reaction. Pholus will begin to chase after you, and as you traverse through the Marble Hall, multiple hospitalized girls will fill the halls as they rock back and forth. It is possible to successfully escape. If you get caught by Pholus, you will be sent to an isolated area, colored in beige with drawings.

Bone Maiden

In the Silent Hill area, there is a passageway with a Bone Maiden at the end of it. Approaching them will open their cloak, revealing a bloody rib-cage. If you walk around the area for a while, the Bone Maiden will suddenly catch you and you'll be sent to an isolated section of the Crimson Path.

Corrupted Apartments

Following the way through to the Proto effect, if you kill Nanase-Shiro and exit the room, the apartments will take on a more corrupted appearance. Parts of the floor will be cut off, and at the entrance of the building, a large, bloody and spiky creature will appear. Attempting to exit the room will make the screen slowly fade to black and suddenly showing static, causing Usotsuki to wake up.

Faceless Couple

In the Snow Forest, there is a small house, where only two NPCs reside; A blonde faceless woman, and a black haired man whose appearance is similar to that of Pholus from the Marble Hall area. Repeatedly hitting either two NPCs will cause changes to the rooms of the house, while they are gruesomely covered in blood. Exiting the house will give the background a more distorted appearance, with the exterior of the house gaining more holes. As you exit the room, you are also enclosed off from the rest of the world, which means the only way to get out would be to wake up or use the Eyeball Box effect to get back to the Nexus.

Dream Bed

A rather odd event, there is a random chance that sleeping upon the bed in the dream room will take you to a version of the balcony with a more yellow tint and an upside-down sky. Re-entering will make it the same except without the yellow tint. The cage in the room will also disappear, and if you enter the door to the Nexus, static will briefly show on the screen.
