Overview
Inspiration (sometimes called .Inspiration, likely in the same style as .flow) is a somewhat obscure fangame by Russian artist Rainychan. The game centers around the story of a reclusive artist named Alex , who appears to live alone. His computer has broken down, so he has been reduced to reading books he's grown tired of and falling asleep to explore his dream world.
Gameplay
Being made in RPG Maker XP opposed to 2000 or 2003, the worlds don't loop and the game can be sped up by holding SHIFT, even morso when holding SHIFT + CTRL. Additionally, the game can be saved from the menu at any time.
Inspiration also makes use of character dialogue, which helps gain an insight into the mind of the main character and figures he sees in his dreams. Interacting with certain objects in the real world bedroom sometimes make Alex lend his thoughts on them. The main character having any sort of dialogue is something of a defining and avant garde trait of the game, which only so many other fangames have made use of, such as the Looking Glass. Traditionally, the protagonist is left to be silent and their personality up to the player's own discretion.
Another feature that sets this game apart from the typical Yume Nikki fangame is that you can leave your bedroom in your waking life. You can't go very far, but you can explore the outside of your building.
