Overview

Sanagi (さなぎ , lit. Pupa) , is the protagonist of GOCCO. She lives with her mother in a small house at the water's edge.

Appearance

Sanagi has brown eyes and long black hair. She wears a pink dress with a heart in the center. She has red shoes and white socks. According to the writing next to her name, Child (コドモ=Kodomo), Sanagi is a kid.

Personality

.

Past

Sanagi is (or was) a kindergarten student. This fact is confirmed by a dream location referred to as "Kindergarten".

Warning: Spoilers for GOCCO ahead. If you haven't played or finished this game yet, this might anger you and spoil the it for you. Highlight to view at your own risk

Also, there is a separate room where a transparent kindergarten teacher appears to be brushing (a transparent) Sanagi's hair.

A screen in Future World hints that Sanagi's father is the bespectacled doctor at the hospital. This character also appears in an event where lots of cameras flash at him at a sectioned-off area with glass walls. This can either hint that he was followed by the press for some reason, or he did something so tremendous that he had to be interviewed by them.

It is implied that there was a tragedy in Sanagi's family that broke it apart. This tragedy involved a suicide or a suicide attempt (by hanging) and probably alcohol abuse. This theory is hinted by a location that bears a broken family photo of Sanagi, her mom and the man with the glasses (Sanagi's father?), and a room with a hanging rope event. That area is generally messy, neglected and is cluttered by empty bottles.
