Overview

Journal Nikki is a Yume Nikki fangame made by Nexus0.10 and Frankie1205.

As of version 1.05, dreamingFIFI joined the development of Journal Nikki, improving the graphics of the game. The creator states that it's still an ongoing process, resulting in an inconsistent art style for now.

Nexus0.10 later went on to state in his video walkthrough of the game that production of the game might no longer continue.

Gameplay

Journal Nikki is a traditional fangame that was initially labeled as being a parody fangame during its early development.

The game stars Ichitsuki, and begins in the hallway rather than in his room. Ichitsuki can leave his room but refuses to go beyond the hallway to the living room. In his room, Ichitsuki can access a Pac Man-like minigame called "French Michets".

When getting into bed, Ichitsuki can face different directions. Sleeping while facing down triggers some chasers to appear in the dream world. Left and right have no adverse effects. Ichitsuki refuses to sleep facing up and will instead face down.

0. Instructions	N/A	The game's instructions. A certain item can be used to reveal an altered message in them.
1. Pink Shirt		Ichitsuki wears a pink shirt, making some chasers move faster.
2. Kazoo		Ichitsuki carries a kazoo. Pressing SHIFT makes him play a note with it. Playing it more than four times however makes him realize he broke it, and he automatically unequips it.
3. Mud		Ichitsuki becomes covered in mud and walks much slower.
4. Black Hole		Ichitsuki has a black hole for a head, darkening the screen until it becomes pitch-black.
5. Mosaic		Ichitsuki becomes distorted, resembling a mosaic. Attempting to move results in him moving in randomized directions.
6. Gray		Ichitsuki becomes grayscale. Pressing SHIFT warps him back to the place where he got the Effect.
7. Lemon		Ichitsuki becomes a lemon, immobilizing him.
8. Roller Coaster		Ichitsuki rides a derailed roller coaster, largely increasing his speed. Moving too much while using this Effect makes him feel sick and wake up.
9. Fish		Ichitsuki carries a fish as a "weapon". Using it against many NPCs will cause negative reactions, most commonly turning them into a chaser. Pressing SHIFT makes him swing the fish in circles.
10. Construction		Ichitsuki puts on a construction worker's uniform. Traffic cones will appear in some areas when using this Effect, barring access to them until the Effect is unequipped.
11. Mouth		Ichitsuki's mouth is shown. Pressing SHIFT makes him smile incredibly awkwardly.

2. Translate		Ichitsuki wears a blue shirt with a magenta question mark on it. Interacting with some NPCs with dialog will "translate" the text into poorly-written English. It was replaced with the Kazoo Effect in ver.1.05.
