Overview
.flow is a Japanese Yume Nikki fangame created by lol (or lolrust) in RPG Maker 2000. Containing gore and technology motifs, .flow stars a white-haired girl named Sabitsuki.
Gameplay
.flow is a traditional fangame. The game begins in Sabitsuki's room. Here, the player can enter Sabitsuki's dream world by sitting at the computer and save their progress by sleeping in the bed. The minigame Shinsoku Neko (神速猫, God Speed Cat) can be played by interacting with the game console.
The player must collect the 24 effects to achieve any of the game's three endings. After collecting all of the effects, the player can drop them by using the computer in Sabitsuki's dream room. Once all effects have been dropped, they cannot be regained.
Sabitsuki is pursued throughout the game by Kaibutsu, human characters bloodied to various degrees that also share Sabitsuki's white hair. Upon capture, Sabitsuki is transported to an inescapable area.
Rust
In Sabitsuki's dream world, there is a series of "forbidden areas" that Sabitsuki cannot enter. After dropping the effects in the computer, the player takes control of Rust. Rust cannot use effects, but can enter these blocked rooms and acquire three empty boxes to unlock the game's third ending.
As Rust, the Kaibutsu are replaced by Fetuses, a faster and more abundant enemy. Rust will take damage from being hit by a Fetus. Taking too much damage causes Rust to fall apart before being transported back to the real room.
