Overview

Annabelle is a trilogy of english games inspired by Yume Nikki and LISA THE FIRST made by Yoobii in RPG Maker VX Ace. The series stars two protagonists, Annabelle Sunray and Melody Moonlight.

The first game is called Annabelle. It would later get a remake called The Dreams of Annabelle Sunray. The second game is called The Dreams of Melody Moonlight. The third game is called Annabelle: Projection. Annabelle would later star as one of the main characters in a crossover game called An Annventure to End them All.

Plot

The Dreams of Annabelle Sunray

Explore the mind of Annabelle as she tries to remind herself about the good things in life while dealing with her terrible relationship with her father.

Six doors. Behind each door is a reason for Annabelle to live. Each of these reasons to live will help you as you explore Annabelle's mind.

Find all six of the reasons to live, and Annabelle's suffering just might end.

The Dreams of Melody Moonlight

It's been a long while after the incident, but Melody still hasn't moved on.

Everywhere she goes, her own mind is against her. It torments her, reminding her of all the horrible things she's had to bare. To help ease her mind, she decides to go to bed.

Little would Melody know that when she's fast asleep is when she's also the most vulnerable.

Annabelle: Projection

This is not a game.

This is a stupid projection of a worthless being.

We all know and love our friend, Annabelle.

But we are not Annabelle.

What happens when we are Annabelle?

Only Annabelle knows what it's like to be Annabelle.

Join us, and we can be Annabelle.

You can all finally see what it's like, to be Annabelle.

Note: When this game first came out, it was treated as the finale of the series at the time. However, due to the game's origin as a vent game, Yoobii has since labeled this game as non-caon. That said, certain events from this game are considered canon, namely Annabelle waking up from her coma, her learning to accept herself, and the introduction of a character known as Riley.

Gameplay

The series plays like Yume Nikki with a linear structure. The structure of the Annabelle series is very story focused, with no random events.

You start as Annabelle and then switch to Melody's perspective for a portion of the story. Annabelle is a girl who lives in a apartment. She will not leave her apartment, yet she will be able to freely explore it before going to bed.

After going to sleep, Annabelle would travel through dream worlds in a specific order. Each dream world is treated like a level with puzzles and obstacles the player character must overcome. At the end of each world, the player will receive a effect that will help progression in later worlds. In The Dreams of Annabelle Sunray and The Dreams of Melody Moonlight, there is a hub world that the player must navigate in between each level in order to unlock the next world.

Annabelle: Projection has the player traveling from one world to another in a linear order, without stoping by a nexus nor a hub world.
