Make your way to the mushroom World. Starting from  where you obtained the Fungus effect, head northwest and follow the path until you see a split. Head south of the split and follow the path to a cave. Equip the Lighter and make sure it's lit. Enter the cave and navigate the maze. Interact with the spirit NPC at the end of the maze. Head to the first area of the Dark School as normal, but equip the egg effect. This turns all NPCs hostile and will quickly run at Alex. Once caught, Alex will be sent to a room in the regular School.

In the same Pool area that you found the Ice effect, head north and enter the opening in the wall. Upon entering, An NPC will enter go through another doorway and disappear. Equip the Ice effect and that will freeze the deep water in front of you, creating a bridge to cross. Enter the doorway. You will find yourself in a small room with no exits and a single telephone in the center. The telephone will start to ring and shortly after, Alex will begin to break down. Alex is then forced awake.

In the Friendly Town, equip the Cleaver effect. Walk up to an NPC in that area and try to attack them. Most of the time, Alex will refuse. However, there is a 1 in 25 chance that Alex will attack and kill the NPC. Once that happens, Alex is teleported outside of the TV. The room is now darker, and a creepy face hovers over the TV, Walking around will cause the eyes to follow Alex. There is no way to leave this area, since the TV is now turned off and the item that takes you to the Dark Maze is now gone. After a while, similar to the Telephone event, Alex will break down and cry, causing them to force wake up.

Effects Guide


Alex

AlexSeveredTies.png

Appearance: Alex's regular form.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: None.

Location: Obtained by default.

Practical Uses: Takes off any effects.

This effect is automatically gained at the start of the game.

Butterfly

Appearance: Alex becomes a butterfly.

Passive Effect: Alex travels at double their walking speed.

Action: (1) Alex throws pollen in the air.

Location: Found in the Pink World.

Practical Uses: Can be used to travel through the dream world a lot faster and evade chasers.

Enter the pink door from the nexus. Go south until you reach a cluster of 4 trees, then head straight west until you find a small pink butterfly. Interact with the butterfly to get the effect.

Cleaver

Appearance: Alex wields a cleaver.

Passive Effect: NPCs move away from Alex.

Action: (1) Alex swings the cleaver.

Location: Found in the Blood World.

Practical Uses: This effect allows Alex to kill some NPCs and access some hidden areas. It is needed to collect the Manananggal effect and trigger the TV event.

Enter the dark grey door from the nexus. Go straight south past a pool of blood until you reach another pool, then head east and interact with the cleaver on the ground.

Demon

Appearance: Alex sports a demon costume.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex laughs with a pitchfork.

Location: Found in the Red World.

Practical Uses: None.

Enter the dark grey door from the nexus. Go straight south past a pool of blood until you just pass by another pool, then head west and go between the two blood smears on the floor to enter the Red World. From there, navigate the area to get the southeast corner, then go to the southwest corner, then straight north until you see a red NPC. Interact with it to get the effect.

Egg

Appearance: Alex becomes an egg.

Passive Effect: Alex travels at a reduced movement speed. NPCs in the Dark School become hostile.

Action: (1) The egg cracks a little.

Location: Found in the School.

Practical Uses: Needed to trigger the Dark School event.

Enter the blue door from the nexus. In the Undersea World, follow the path to the west. When the path ends, continue west until you reach a doorway with light trickling trough. You can either go straight south until you reach the 4 way split, then west until you see the boys restroom and interact with it, OR from the 4 way, continue south until you reach the end of the hallway, then head east and interact with the girl's restroom. Either door will give the effect.

Fungus

Appearance: Alex becomes a fungus host with mushrooms growing on them.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex warps back to the nexus.

Location: Found in the Mushroom World.

Practical Uses: This effect allows Alex to teleport to the Nexus at will.

Enter the gold door from the nexus. From the Desert, go south and follow the trail of cacti southeast until you find a rocket. Interacting it will take you to Space. In Space, head east until you reach a clump of 10 tiles, then head north until you reach a larger clump of tiles and a fairy. Interact with the fairy to get to Mushroom World. Follow the linear path until you see a gap in the mushrooms that allows you to go south. Then head southwest and follow the path until you see an animated purple mushroom surrounded by smaller ones. Interact with the mushroom for the effect.

Gal

Appearance: Alex adorns blonde hair and a fashionable outfit.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex performs a hair-flip.

Location: Found in the Pink World Grotto.

Practical Uses: This effect causes some NPCs to move toward Alex.

From the pink door in the Pink World, head west until you see a lone tree. From there, head north until you see a dense section of trees and a stoplight. Interact with the stoplight and head east. In this clearing, go south east until you see another stoplight and interact with it. Head east again. In the Pink World Grotto, take the southeast path and continue east until you see an NPC. From it, go southeast and you should see a mannequin. Interacting with the mannequin will give you the Gal effect.

Hoodie

Appearance: Alex sports a purple hoodie.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex dances.

Location: Found in the Tech World.

Practical Uses: This effect allows Alex to be unseen by chasers.

Enter the green door with yellow accents from the nexus. Head straight south until you see an NPC wearing a purple hoodie near two servers. Interacting with the NPC gives the effect.

Ice

Appearance: Alex transforms into ice

Passive Effect: Neutral NPCs in the area stop moving.

Action: (1) Alex freezes the ground around them.

Location: Found in the Pool World.

Practical Uses: This effect is needed to trigger the Telephone event.

Enter the light grey door with green accents from the nexus. Head southwest and interact with a vent grate on a wall. In the Pool World, head north and then then east at the split. Avoid the chaser, head southeast, and go through the doorway. In the next area, go south and follow the path and interact with the ice sculpture at the end.

Journalist

Appearance: Alex becomes a journalist and holds a book and pen.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex scribbles in their journal.

Location: Found in the Chaser Maze.

Practical Uses: This effect gives the option to save from the menu anywhere.

You will need the Cleaver, Gal, or Sirena effect to access the Chaser Maze.
Having the Hoodie effect for the Chaser Maze is recommended.

From the door in the tech world, head south until you reach a cluster of 4 servers, then go east until you see a section of trees. Touch the fern to go to the Forest World. In the Forest World, head straight south until you run into two trees lined up vertically, then head east until you see a skunk NPC guarding a well. Use the Cleaver, Gal, or Sirena to get it out of the way and interact with the well. In the Chaser Maze, equip the Hoodie and follow the path northeast,. At the split, do northwest and continue in that same direction and follow the past until you reach a journal on the ground. Interact with it to get the Journalist effect.

Kalabaw

Appearance: Alex grows kalabaw ears, horns, and a tail.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex digs at the ground and jumps in a mud puddle.

Location: Found in the Brutalism World.

Practical Uses: None.

Enter the light grey door with green accents from the nexus. Head west and then take a north at the second 4-way split. Interact with an NPC surrounded by flowers.

Lighter

Appearance: Alex's head becomes a lighter.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Opens and closes the lighter.

Location: Found in the Desert.

Practical Uses: Can be used to illuminate dark area. Useful for navigating the Dark Maze.

From the door in the Desert, head south until you reach a small flowering cactus surrounded by rocks. Go west until you reach a bonfire. Interacting with it gives the Lighter effect.

Manananggal

Appearance: Alex turns into a Manananggal with pale skin a a dark blue dress.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex's torso detaches from the rest of their body and reattaches itself.

Location: Found in the Cursed Village.

Practical Uses: None.

You will need the Cleaver effect to obtain this effect.

In the School, head west and the southwest at the split. Enter the door that is slightly ajar. In the Cursed Village, you may use the Lighter to make the area brighter, but its not needed. Head northeast and follow the path until you see a house more run-down than the others with vines over the doorway. Use the cleaver to cut the vines and enter the house. Inside the house, a Manananggal with fly at Alex and when it touches them, you'll get the effect.

Punk

Appearance: Alex dresses in punk fashion.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex brings out a guitar and plays.

Location: Found in Space.

Practical Uses: Neutral NPCs will move away from Alex.

In Space starting from the fairy, head northeast until you reach a few small clumps of tiles, then head north until you reach a larger section of tiles. Interact with the radio to get the effect.

Sirena

Appearance: Alex dresses as a Sirena.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex sings.

Location: Found in the Undersea World.

Practical Uses: This effect causes some NPCs to move toward Alex.

From the door in the Undersea World, follow the path southeast until you reach a Sirena. Interact with it to get the effect.

Tikbalang

Appearance: Alex becomes a Tikbalang and wears a brown dress.

Passive Effect: Alex travels at double their walking speed.

Action: (1) Alex paws at the ground.

Location: Found in the Forest World.

Practical Uses: Can be used to travel through the dream world a lot faster and evade chasers.

After entering the Forest World from the Tech World, head south until you reach a clump of 6 ferns. Go west until you see a horse NPC. Interacting with it gives you the Tikbalang effect.

Uniform

Appearance: Alex wears a school uniform.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex looks away.

Location: Found in the Dark School.

Practical Uses: None.

After entering the Forest World from the Tech World, head straight south until you reach a lone fern. Go west and then head north until you see a grey cube. Before interacting with the cube, make sure you DO NOT equip the egg in the Dark school, since that will trigger the Dark School event and teleport back to the main School. Interact with the grey cube to take you to the Dark School. In the Dark School, do NOT go west, as it will take you back to the School, and the only way to come back is to go through the Forest again. You may use the Lighter to make the area brighter, but its not needed. Head all the way south and then enter the doorway. In the next area, go southwest and interact with the animated NPC.

Witch

Appearance: Alex dresses as a witch that controls insects.

Passive Effect: None.

Action: (1) Alex hikes up the bottom of their dress, releasing insects.

Location: Found in the Friendly Town.

Practical Uses: None.

Having the Lighter effect for the Dark Maze is highly recommended.
