Overview

Severed Ties is an English Yume Nikki fangame created by JPiggs in RPG Maker MZ. It was developed as an entry for Dream Diary Jam 6 and updated for Dream Diary Jam 7 and Dream Diary Jam 8.

Gameplay

Severed Ties is a traditional fangame. The player can save by interacting with computer and access the dream world through the bed.

Plot

You explore the dreams of Alex, who is a shut-in as they come to understand themselves and who they are.

Effects

Alex		Alex's regular form, taking off any effects. Pressing 1 will have Alex sit down.
Butterfly		Alex becomes a butterfly, increasing their speed. Pressing 1 will have Alex throw pollen in the air.
Cleaver		Alex wields a cleaver and can kill NPCs. Interacting with an NPC will have Alex attack them. Pressing 1 will have Alex swing the cleaver without harming NPCs.
Demon		Alex sports a demon costume. Pressing 1 makes Alex laugh with a pitchfork.
Egg		Alex becomes an egg with reduced movement speed. Pressing 1 causes the egg to crack a little.
Fungus		Alex becomes a fungus host with mushrooms growing on them. Pressing 1 warps them back to the nexus.
Gal		Alex adorns blonde hair and a fashionable outfit. Pressing 1 prompts Alex to perform a hair-flip that attracts NPCs.
Hoodie		Alex sports a hoodie and is not seen by chasers. Pressing 1 causes Alex to dance.
Ice		Alex transforms into ice, freezing neutral NPCs in the area. Pressing 1 causes Alex to freeze the ground around them.
Journalist		Alex becomes a journalist and is able to save from the menu. Pressing 1 causes Alex to scribble in their journal.
Kalabaw		Alex grows kalabaw ears, horns, and a tail. Pressing 1 will have Alex dig at the ground and jump in a mud puddle.
Lighter		Alex's head becomes a lighter to illuminate dark areas. Pressing 1 opens and closes the lighter.
Manananggal		Alex turns into a Manananggal. Pressing 1 will cause Alex's torso to detach from the rest of their body. Pressing 1 again will reattach their torso.
Nurse		Alex wears a nurse costume. Pressing 1 will cause Alex to pull out a stethoscope.
Outlaw		Alex dresses like an old western outlaw. Pressing 1 will cause Alex to fire a revolver into the air.
Punk		Alex dresses in punk fashion. Pressing 1 causes Alex to bring out a guitar and play, scaring NPCs away.
Quartz		Alex's hair becomes pink and they wear a pink dress. Pressing 1 will cause a rose quartz crystal to grow around and encase Alex, making them invincible to chasers, but unable to move. Pressing 1 again will dissolve the quartz.
Robot		Alex turns into a robot. Pressing 1 will have them transform into a smaller robot, allowing them to fit into small spaces.
Sirena		Alex dresses as a Sirena. Pressing 1 causes Alex to sing, attracting NPCs.
Tikbalang		Alex becomes a Tikbalang, increasing their speed. Pressing 1 will have Alex paw at the ground.
Uniform		Alex wears a school uniform. Pressing 1 causes Alex to look away.
Violet		Alex transforms into a potted violet plant. Pressing 1 will cause a petal to fall, marking the spot. After all five petals fall, Alex will regrow them.
Witch		Alex dresses as a witch that controls insects. Pressing 1 causes Alex to hike up the bottom of their dress, releasing insects.
Xenon		Alex becomes comprised of glowing xenon gas. Pressing 1 causes the light to flicker.
Yam		Alex's head becomes a purple yam and their skin turns purple. Pressing 1 will cause Alex's head to detach and flip.
Zephyr		Alex's form becomes wispy like a summer breeze. Pressing 1 causes Alex to blow air into their hands.

Ice + Demon		Alex transforms into ice and sports a demon costume, freezing neutral NPCs in the area. Pressing 1 makes Alex laugh with a pitchfork and freeze the ground around them.
Tikbalang + Hoodie		Alex becomes a Tikbalang and wears a hoodie, increasing their speed and making them invisible to chasers. Pressing 1 causes Alex to dance and paw at the ground.
Punk + Yam		Alex dresses in punk fashion and their head becomes a purple yam. Pressing 1 causes Alex to bring out a guitar and play, scaring NPCs away while their head detaches and flips.
Violet + Fungus		Alex becomes a violet fungus host with mushrooms growing on them. Pressing 1 warps them back to the nexus.
