Overview
Umbra is a Yume Nikki fangame made by Rusch (Mugi) . (Deviantart ) (Tumblr ) (Pixiv ).
The game is praised for having such well made graphics, detail and music despite being only a demo/0.00.
Gameplay
Umbra is the first game to start the "talksprite trend" throughout other fangames, and is also one of the first to make dialogue an important aspect of the game. Some other games have adopted this method of story-telling, such as The Looking Glass .
The gameplay style is traditional to Yume Nikki, collecting effects, but with added puzzles and how your dialogue choices affect the game.
The method of "dreaming" is though Scott's TV. You can save in the bed. The Nexus is an old arcade, and the nexus "doors" are arcade machines.
Plot
Umbra stars Scott, a boy who gets trapped inside due to a storm. The game starts off with him coming back home and commenting on how cold it is outside.
You are unable to leave his apartment. The main part of the game is you exploring his dream world.
