Overview

blooms is a Japanese fangame made in RPG Maker 2000 by Gangaze. It stars two characters, Nonoka and Kiribana.

Gameplay

The point of the game is to sleep in the bed and collect effects while dreaming. You always start off as Nonoka but can switch characters at any point when awake using the second option when at the desk in the bedroom. In Nonoka's bedroom, there is a music box at the bookshelf where the player can access a sound test with unlockable tracks. In Kiribana's bedroom there is a minigame on her bookshelf called Little RPG.

Most of the time, it doesn't really matter which character the player controls, since the dream worlds are the same for both characters and effects are even shared in both of their inventories once collected. However there are a few situations where one character can do one thing where the other refuses or is unable to do the same thing. (Example: Nonoka can rummage around in vending machines looking for loose change while Kiribana refuses to do something like that.)

Along with collecting effects, there are 3 additional menu types to be found hidden throughout the dream world.

Merry-go-Round (メリー)			The protagonists ride a carousel pony. This increases their speed. Pressing SHIFT makes a dinging sound, like a bicycle bell.
Raw Egg (なまたまご)			The protagonists are trapped inside a raw egg. Pressing SHIFT returns them to the nexus.
Snail (でんでんむし)			The protagonists become snails, decreasing their movement speed. This effect also summons rain.
Alien (エイリアン)			The protagonists become aliens. Pressing SHIFT makes a UFO hover over them for a second and attracts certain NPCs.
Jellyfish (くらげ)			The protagonists become a jellyfish. Pressing SHIFT lights them up.
Diver (ダイバー)			The protagonists wear diving suits. Pressing SHIFT makes them dive below, whether they are on land or not.
Vase (かびん)			The protagonists hold a vase. Interacting with NPCs allows you to kill them, or it can be used to unblock some paths.
Hansel and Gretel (ヘンゼルとグレーテル)			Nonoka dresses up as Hansel while Kiribana dresses up as Gretel from the classic Grimm's fairy tale. Pressing SHIFT in small worlds makes them eat an apple, but in large worlds they will drop a seed on the ground.
Grilled Fish (やきざかな)			The protagonists become floating grilled fish. Pressing SHIFT makes a lime appear and it will squeeze a drop of juice on them.
