Overview

Distant Dreams is an English Yume Nikki fangame created by Spark Star Games in RPG Maker VX Ace. The game was made as an entry for Dream Diary Jam 5.

Gameplay

Distant Dreams is a traditional fangame. The player enters the dream world by sleeping in the bed. The goal is to explore and obtain Skills and/or items. Interacting with the computer allows the player to save and look at images that are unlocked by exploring the dream world. Minigames are also unlocked this way, which can then be played by interacting with the console next to the TV.

Move - Arrow Keys
Interact/Select - Space/Z
Open Menu/Cancel - Esc/X
Run - Shift

Plot

You play as Tohru, a teenage dreamer who stays at home.

Skills (Effects)

Effect	Image	Description	Icon
Mirror		Tohru's regular form. Unequips any effect Tohru has.
Error		Tohru's sprite becomes glitchy, allowing Tohru to interact with certain NPCs and unlock new areas.
Bug		Tohru wears ladybug-themed pajamas.
Angel		Tohru becomes an angel and floats, increasing default movement speed.
Injured		Tohru becomes injured with a bandage around her head and wears a hospital gown.
Mask		Tohru wears a mask of the chasers, causing them to ignore her.

Items

Alien Invasion - Unlocks a mini-game in the real world.
Maze City - Unlocks a mini-game in the real world.
Midnight - Unlocks a mini-game in the real world.
