Overview

Ignite is an English Yume Nikki fangame created by Forty (Clinginglies) in RPG Maker 2003.

On March 17, 2014, a remake of the game titled Ignite: Dying Flame was released. While it is shorter in areas and number of effects compared to the original, it improved graphics and added several events.

Gameplay

Ignite is a traditional fangame. The player enters the dream world by staring at the fireplace and saves using the notebook. The main objective is to explore and collect Influences (effects). Something unique to Ignite is that effects are removed by selecting "Normal" from the effects menu.

There are many events in Ignite, most of them probably being about the protagonist's past, or encounters with others. Sometimes an event must be triggered to get an effect. The events are detailed and can involve other NPCs.

The game tends to lean on darker atmospheres similar to .flow or Yume Nisshi (夢日誌). A new feature of the remake is the ability to change the protagonist's clothes, sometimes affecting NPC dialogue.

Controls

  • Move - Arrow Keys
  • Interact - Z/Space
  • Open Menu - X/Esc
  • Wake Up - 9
  • Effect Action - 1

Plot

You play as Feutsuki, a black cat under quarantine. It is unclear if he has any sort of virus or infection that caused him to be placed under quarantine. It is also unknown if he enters the "dream world" in hopes of escape, or to pass the time.

There is a fire motif evident throughout the game, showing Feutsuki possibly being obsessed with fire.
