Overview

The Dreams of Fritz is an English Yume Nikki fangame by Rye Raccoon. It was developed in RPG Maker 2003 for Dream Diary Jam 8.

Gameplay

The Dreams of Fritz is a traditional fangame. Sitting on the bed takes the player to the dream world. The goal of the game is to explore, collect Visions which grant the player new abilities, and see events. Progress can be saved at the desk in the bedroom.

When starting a new game, the player will be given the option between Traditional and Fast speed movement. The former is the default walking speed for players typically seen in Yume Nikki fangames. This option cannot be changed once selected.

Plot

Following a string of murders in the local area, sleepwalker Fritz has been advised to stay indoors. With not much to do other than dream, you as the player explore Fritz' dreams and work to uncover the truth of what's going on.

Visions (Effects)

Name	Image	Description
Straight Jacket		Fritz wears a straight jacket. Pressing Shift makes Fritz bite at the air.
Motorbike		Fritz rides on a motorbike. If the player set the movement speed to Traditional, this Vision will increase Fritz' speed. Pressing Shift beeps the horn.
Apron		Fritz wears an apron. When interacting with blank canvases, Fritz will paint on them. Pressing Shift makes Fritz pull out a paintbrush.
Fat		Fritz becomes fatter.
Monster		Fritz becomes a monster. Pressing Shift makes an eye open on Fritz' torso, drawing NPCs closer and, in certain areas, revealing hidden objects.
Industrial		The right side of Fritz' body is replaced with industrial machinery. Pressing Shift blows smoke out of the pipe in Fritz' head.
Chess Piece		Fritz becomes a chess piece. Pressing Shift warps Fritz to the Nexus.
Natural		Fritz becomes shirtless.
Mannequin		Fritz becomes a mannequin.
Cosmos		Fritz resembles the cosmos with a planet for a face. Pressing Shift makes bits of the cosmos flicker outwards.
Stripe		Fritz' appearance changes, having shorter hair and darker arm and tail markings. Pressing Shift makes Fritz vomit before disappearing in a dark puddle and waking up.
