Overview

Bad Birds is an English Yume Nikki fangame created by Shregolag. It was made for Dream Diary Jam 2 in Game Maker: Studio.

Gameplay

Bad Birds is a traditional fangame. The player begins the game in the Nexus. There are four nexus worlds the player can access at the beginning of the game, with more becoming available as the player explores.

The players main goal is to collect effects. Progress is saved automatically as the player progresses through the game.

Plot

You play as the protagonist, who is trying to recover some lost memories by exploring the dream world.

Effects

Effects are unnamed in the menu. The names given here are unofficial and based off of their menu icon and/or appearance.

Effect	Image	Description	Icon
Bird Mask		The protagonist wears a bird skull mask. Chasers will ignore you while this effect is equipped.
Broken		The Protagonist's form becomes glitchy.
Skeleton		The Protagonist wears a skeleton costume.
Book		The Protagonist reads a book. Opens larger books when equipped, allowing you to progress further in the Shrine.
Royalty		The Protagonist is dressed regally, wearing a crown and dress.
Panpipe		The Protagonist carries a panpipe/pan flute. Press SPACE to play the pipes.
Pelican		The Protagonist's lower body is replaced with a pelicans. This effect increases the player's speed.
Shadow		The Protagonist becomes a shadow.
Eye		The Protagonist's face is replaced by an eye.
Wolf		The Protagonist wears a wolf coat and white gloves. Press SPACE to howl.
Wings		The Protagonist grows wings and can fly over pits and water.
