Overview

gen.loss is an English Yume Nikki fangame made by orchidmantis in RPG Maker 2003. The protagonist is Yamaiko.

The game was developed for Dream Diary Jam 8 in 2024, and is currently unfinished.

The release of the game was put on hiatus after some backlashes related to the works of the author on said game and some maps in Collective Unconscious that were considered as too close to existing Yume Nikki fangames.

Gameplay

gen.loss is a traditional fangame. The game starts in Yamaiko's room, where she can access the balcony, save at the computer desk, turn the TV on and off, and sleep in her bed.

Sleeping in her bed will bring her to the dream balcony, where she can access the Nexus. The nexus takes the form of a dark void featuring a circle of symbols that reoccur often in the game.

Effects

Running Shoes		Yamaiko wears shoes of a more blue-ish color, allowing her to increase her speed.
Necrotic		Yamaiko's skin becomes purple and decayed, like a corpse or zombie.
Heart Monitor		Yamaiko's head transforms to a heartrate monitor.
Crystal		Yamaiko becomes translucent and neon blue, appearing crystalline.
