Overview

Oversomnia is an English Yume Nikki fangame created by Wambysock. It was made for Dream Diary Jam 2 in RPG Maker 2003.

Gameplay

Oversomnia is a traditional fangame. The player enters the dream world by sleeping in bed and saves by using either the closet or the phone in the room. The latter also allows the player to view stats (how many times you've slept, the number of effects gotten and the number of events you have triggered) and change the menu theme.

Unlike many fangames, there is a NPC (seated behind a booth next to the Nexus doors) who will provide hints and temporary item abilities for a fee. It has a Bestiary too, where you can learn a little bit more about the NPCs by reading the book next to the phone.

Plot

You play as a boy named Irving, and your goal is to explore his dreams while collecting effects. According to the creator, Irving is part of a "dream club" whose three members gather or otherwise use other means to share the dreams they have. Therefore, unlike many protagonists Irving is willing and able to leave his room as he pleases.

Effects

Effect	Image	Description
Dust Bunny		Irving becomes a dust bunny, increasing his speed. Pressing Shift makes him hop.
Vampirism		Irving is dressed like a vampire bat, allowing him to kill NPCs and accumulate blood.
Tuning Fork		Irving carries a tuning fork, which oscillates when the Shift key is pressed. It is possible to alter certain objects by interacting with them.
Mobile Phone		Irving carries a mobile phone. Pressing Shift makes him dial a number and return to the Nexus.
Neat		Irving has neatened hair and clothes.
Skeleton Key		Irving becomes pallid and has small horns on his head.
Bed Hair		Irving wears pajamas and his hair gets messy. It slows down the movement of some things.
Angler		Irving holds a bathyal lantern. By pressing Shift it will draw some things closer.
